Product Description
The BioDeviceLab 10 nm Water-Soluble Quantum Dots are brightly luminescent semiconductor nanocrystals designed for use as optical reporters in biological and analytical applications. These nanocrystals combine size-tunable fluorescence with high quantum yield and resistance to photobleaching, making them effective tools for flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, biosensor platforms, and multiplexed detection schemes.
Formulated with a hydrophilic surface coating, the quantum dots are suspended in a stable aqueous colloid compatible with a wide range of biological buffers and microfluidic environments. The 10 nm core diameter yields fluorescence emission in the visible spectrum (tunable based on composition), while the water-soluble surface ensures minimal aggregation and strong colloidal stability under physiological conditions.
The large 300 mL volume supports extensive imaging and assay workflows, including quantitative fluorescence measurements and high-throughput screening applications in immunoassays, cell tracking, and device validation.
Intended Use
This product is intended for research applications including:
• Fluorescence imaging and microscopy
• Multiplex biosensing and detection
• Flow cytometry and cell tracking
• Optical calibration and assay development
• Microfluidic system integration
• Biodevice benchmarking and validation
Principle of Operation
Quantum dots are semiconductor nanocrystals that exhibit size-dependent fluorescence.
• Upon excitation, electron–hole pairs (excitons) recombine to emit photons with narrow spectral bandwidths.
• Smaller quantum dots emit at shorter wavelengths (blue), while larger dots emit at longer wavelengths (green to red).
• High quantum yield and resistance to photobleaching support sensitive detection over extended imaging sessions.
• Surface coatings enable water solubility and bioconjugation for targeted assays and device integration.
Optical & Physical Characteristics
Core diameter: ~10 nm (quantum confinement regime)
Emission: Visible range (tunable by composition)
Quantum yield: High (lab verified for brightness)
Surface coating: Hydrophilic / water-soluble
Colloidal stability: Excellent in aqueous buffers
Size dispersity: Low (tight emission peaks)
Supplied volume: 500 mL
Selectivity & Compatibility
Water-soluble quantum dots are compatible with proteins, antibodies, and nucleic acids when proper passivation is used. Their emission is spectrally narrow, enabling multiplex detection without significant spectral overlap when paired with compatible fluorophores.
